4-H Canada has developed four outreach initiatives that encourage youth to be global citizens, addressing critical issues like climate change, poverty, health, and the environment.
The activities, based on the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, are available not only to the 4-H community, but to all families and educational organizations across the country to enjoy in group settings or from the comfort of home.
The four Outreach Initiatives are:
Dig into Soil which provides hands-on learning experiences to discover how healthy soils can help mitigate climate change.
Proud to Bee a 4-H’er which is centred on planting a pollinator-friendly garden. This initiative encourages youth to spend time in nature, discovering the vital role pollinators play in a sustainable food supply and healthy ecosystems.
Powered Up! gives youth the opportunity to explore alternative energy sources.
Making a Splash will guide youth through experiential activities to discover their personal roles in supporting healthy water ecosystems.

Unbox Your Mind
When it comes to mental health, it is important to know that different approaches work for different people. Unbox Your Mind empowers youth to get to know themselves better while learning new ways to identify and manage stress.
With the Unbox Your Mind resources and activities, you can learn about mental health, either at home or as a club, with resources, tools, and hands-on activities. Through this initiative, you will be able to aid young people in their ability to identify, recognize, and manage stress in themselves and their peers, all while learning about good health and well-being.
My Plate and the Planet
Youth ages eight to sixteen can explore the food we eat and the world around us through hands-on activities while having some 4-H fun in their own homes. The Activity Book has all the background information they will need for learning about the food we eat, with instructions for exciting hands-on activities to do at home or as a 4-H club.
Find Your 4-H Wings
What do loons, bats and owls have in common? Youth can discover them all with Find Your 4-H Wings! With these Activity Books, they can explore native birds and bats in their own backyards as well as how to protect them.
Steeped in Soil
Get your hands dirty as you learn the nitty-gritty about soils, explore healthy soils with hands-on activities, and participate in science experiments from Steeped in Soil.
