The Canadian Government and Saskatchewan Provincial Government are working together to renew the funding for the Next Generation Agriculture Mentorship Program (Next Gen). The program has been given $200,000 to be distributed by the Canadian Western Agribition (CWA). This new round of funding will fund the project until 2023 allowing two more sets of mentor matches to occur before the program will be evaluated again.
The Agriculture Mentorship Program pairs agri-business experts with up and coming producers who are looking to progress their careers in agriculture. The program focuses on the vital skills to be successful in agri-business, the principle learning points are:
• Industry Knowledge
• Advocacy
• Networking
• Board & Governance Training
• Social Connections
The applications to the Next Gen Program are now open and will remain open until January 11th, 2021. The 18-month program will be accepting 8 applicants for the 2021-2022 season where they will be given a mentor and be exposed to the industry through networking, trade shows, financial training and so much more.
