Changes are coming to the CanExport program in order to make it easier for smaller businesses to take part and encourage them to look abroad for sales of their products. For small farmers CanExport is offering up to 75,000 dollars to help advertise and promote products in other countries.
Trade deals made by the Federal Government have increased access businesses will now have to the international market. The Governement’s goal is to increase Canada’s agri-food exports to $75 billion by 2025. The support program was put in place to help small and medium agri-businesses market and sell niche products in the wake of cancelled trade shows this year.
Small and medium sized farms making, high quality, niche or easily marketable products can take advantage of the funding available to supply the international market with Canadian made goods. With CanExport moving lots of their services and marketing to digital and online formats, farms with good branding as well as a strong online presence will gain more from CanExport’s programming.
