Sunflowers were planted by the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to help raise awareness about agriculture in the province of Manitoba.
In exchange for a donation to an organization fighting to solve world hunger, a Manitoba farmer is inviting visitors to stop by and take a photo with his gorgeous sunflowers.
Dean Toews farms corn and soybeans east of MacGregor, but this year he planted a field of the enormous flowers just for those looking for the ideal Instagram shot. Farmer Dean Toews says he wanted to plant sunflowers as it's more of an interactive crop than most others, and because it makes for great photo opportunities. All he asks is that people donate to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
If you want to go snap a selfie before the flowers are gone, look for the Co-op Gas Bar in the town of MacGregor, about 120 kilometres west of Winnipeg via the Trans-Canada Highway. On the service road, a kilometre east, you will find the sunflowers and the farm.
