Are you an aspiring leader residing in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba? Are you interested and/or have background in the environment, agriculture and/or politics? Consider applying to GreenPAC’s Parliamentary Internship for the Environment program (PIE).
Now entering its fifth year, the PIE program is accepting applications of outstanding young leaders, aged 18-30, to work and learn alongside some of Canada’s top environmental champions in Parliament.
In partnership with the Sustainability Network, GreenPAC’s PIE program offers a ten-month, paid internship placement in the Parliament Hill office of a Member of Parliament (MP) or Senator with a proven record of environmental leadership.
This year, there are two specialized streams of the PIE program:
- The Specialized Stream of Indigenous Interns
- The Specialized Stream in Sustainable Agriculture
The sustainable agriculture stream first piloted in the 2020-2021 program year and has had tremendous results since. This stream continues to advance environmental leadership in agriculture and elevate rural voices in Canada’s environmental space.
Application requirements
- Must be between 18-30 years old as of September 1, 2022
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the program
There is no minimum level of education required to apply. Candidates who have demonstrated leadership in any relevant area of political science, environmental studies, health, economics, agriculture, business and social justice are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
Successful interns will gain a deep understanding of the day-to-day workings of Canadian Parliament. In full time office placements, interns will become well-versed in legislative affairs, policy research, and constituency work, while supporting current environmental change makers of all political stripes.
The Parliamentary Internship for the Environment program runs from September 2022 to June 2023 as full-time hours (35-40 hours).
GreenPAC is currently accepting applications now until Sunday, May 1st, 2022, at 11:59PM EDT. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by May 16th with the intention to complete all interviews before the end of May.
