When animals visit the vet it can often lead to stress and anxiety for both the animal and the owner sometimes. No matter what species of animal is visiting the veterinarian, these tips are designed to relieve anxiety and other barriers, to help get ready to get the most out of a vet visit whether it be on-site, virtual or in-clinic.
- Ensure the primary caregiver for the animal is present for the vet visit
- Ensure you are aware and have access to the current status of health wellness accessible (changes in physical health and/or changes in behaviour)
- Be sure to provide the vet with the list of feed/foods – labels/ingredients/ration information the animal is given (how much, when, feeding method)
- Be sure to have the animals medical history available. Especially if this is the first time with a new vet )
- Be sure to provide housing/shelter/enclosure information (photos on your phone could be helpful)
- Be sure to have watering system information
- Note anything out of the ordinary (physical or behavioural)
