It is fall fair season across Canada. Fall fairs, expositions, exhibitions and rodeos welcome rural and urban folk alike to learn about and celebrate agriculture and the harvest. Many seek to educate urbanites about agriculture as well as youth about competition and the world of farming.
The BC Agricultural Exposition Society’s annual Expo, running September 23-26, 2022, highlights the benefits of supporting and promoting agriculture through youth. Over 225 dedicated 4-H youth will gather to celebrate their hard work and dedication to their projects.
Fall fairs in Manitoba are about education, pumpkins and cattle and so much more. Featuring Manitoba AG EX, the largest All-breeds cattle show in Manitoba, it attracts exhibitors and visitors from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. It runs from October 26-29, 2022, in Brandon, MB.
Mark your calendars, exhibition continues well into the fall in New Brunswick with the Saint John Ex, August 30th-September 3rd, The New Brunswick Provincial Exhibition, September 5th-11th, Exposition Régionale Agricole de St-Isidore, September 8th-11th, the Albert County Exhibition, September 15th-18th and the Queens County Fair, Gagetown, New Brunswick is a GO! September 15 - 18, 2022 as well.
Kicking off in mid-August and running through mid-October, it is fall fair season in Ontario, hosted by Ontario Agricultural Societies.
“Fall fairs are a fantastic peek into rural Ontario and the farms that feed us all,” says Drew Spoelstra, Vice-President of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA). “The rides and games and extravagant eats may provide colour, but at their heart the fair is a celebration of the local harvest and all the fruits, vegetables, grains and meats that we enjoy on our tables.”
