With planting season right around the corner, it is time to look at some tools that can help get seeds in the ground in short order.
A dibber or dibble or dibbler is a wooden or metal-tipped pointed stick for making holes in the soil so that seeds, seedlings or small bulbs can be planted.
Historically, the dibber can be traced as far back as ancient Rome. The dibber was, in its most rudimentary form, a stake-like tool made from wood or bone and shoved into the ground to make way for seeds. More ornate dibbers began to appear during the Renaissance with mass production.
The Pinebush T Handled Dibber from West Coast Seeds has a sturdy natural wood handle. The T handle makes rotation easier, so making deeper and larger holes in heavy soil requires less effort.
