Last spring Small Farm Canada covered a group discussion on using Instant Pot as a tool to germinate seeds.
Many of the discussion-participants suggested using a heat mat as an alternative. It is made for the job after all.
That piqued my interest and I decided to purchase a heat mat and try it out as a transitioning tool from work room to greenhouse. I successfully made a heat mat purchase, although it was a challenge as many retailers were out of stock.
At the “trial” stage a few new challenges developed, first was size – at 25 cm by 50 cm, it is one tray at a time.
Second was the price tag (I paid $40 each), it could get expensive if you have multiple trays.
My third concern and third strike related to suitability, as it is an indoor-use only product.
Not the tool for my job, but it could be the right tool for many others.
