We reviewed the last 89 weeks of Small Farm Canada’s cool tool reviews and did a quick analysis. It pencils out at 50% of the tools reviewed are still a useful part of the tool chest. It also means that the other 50% are a management job that isn’t paying off.
SFC’s Cool Tools 2024:
Go with your gut! If it seems gimmicky or the product claims are too good to be true, they probably are.
Seek online reviews before making a purchase.
Try renting when the job requires a specialized tool that you would only use once in awhile.
Check out a tool club. Some farm organizations have resources that they will share or rent to members.
Organize and inventory tools to know what you have and where to locate it to avoid duplicates.
Keeping tools simple, flexible and maintained is a key.
