Lately there seems to be a fixation on battery powered tools. I have jumped on that bandwagon by reviewing several types of battery driven tools and lining them up against their gas-powered alternatives.
But what about electrically powered tool options, how do they stack up? When it comes to pole saws the advantages are clear. Without batteries or gas tank, the pole saw pictured is considerably lighter. This is particularly important for control of a chainsaw at the end of a long pole. Remember “the longer the lever the greater the force”.
Another positive is the RPM’s generated through electrically powered chainsaws run higher than their battery powered alternates. This makes cutting more effective with less jumping around than a battery powered pole saw. Another plus, no recharging or refueling required.
You may be thinking but what about the cord? On our farm the solution is simple – pole saw + generator make it a viable tool for anywhere on the property with road or trail access.
Extension cords are universal which also extends the life of the tool versus battery powered alternatives. This Stihl is over ten years old and still going strong!
