A tractor from Mahindra could be the right fit for farmers and landowners looking for a tractor under 30 HP.
The Mahindra Max XLT is equipped with a 26 HP Mitsubishi engine and has a loader lift capacity of 2,315 lbs. (1,050 kg.)
“This would be ideal for a 10-acre farm. It can do most of the chores around there,” said Mark Potter, regional sales manager with Mahindra Canada. “It’s a compact tractor, which means it’s solid. From the front to the back, there’s no subframe connecting the engine to the rear.”
The tractor alone, with included industrial, turf or agricultural tires, and a seven-year powertrain warranty, retails for $23,911.
But Mahindra makes multiple accessories available for customers and includes the prices for each addition on their website.
Adding the 26B backhoe with a 12-inch bucket, for example, will add another $10,089 to the price of the tractor. And a block heater assembly will add $403.
The tractor has a mid PTO, which can accommodate a 60-inch mower, Potter said.
Customers can also choose between hydrostatic or shuttle transmissions.
The shuttle transmission comes with eight forward and reverse speeds each. Opting for the shuttle transmission does bring the base price of the tractor down to $22,286.
The other tractor in Mahindra’s Max Series is the Max 25 XL.
It comes equipped with 24 HP, a loader lift capacity of 1,354 lbs. (614 kg.) and retails for $21,254.
