Farmers and acreage owners looking to enhance their hay production may want to consider a new tedder from Krone.
Customers view tedders differently now, said Brent Raines, north region production manager with Krone.
“A tedder used to be considered more of a rescue tool than a management tool,” he said. “But what we’re finding now is people are incorporating tedders as just a standard part of their operating procedure.”
The manufacturer recently introduced eight new tedder models with working widths between 18’ and 60’.
One of the new features on Krone’s tedders is the OptiTurn Tooth.
This feature helps the machine handle heavier yields, Raines said.
“Our idea is to move the wettest hay the furthest, and the OptiTurn Tooth gives you the ability to throw that hay and make a nice, green carpet as you get done with your field,” he said.
Another new item on the tedders is Krone’s Boundary Spread.
This feature is available on certain models and provides operators with additional control from the tractor cab.
It lets operators “crab steer” through the field, Raines said.
It “allows you to throw that windrow on a little bit of an angle, if you’re having some issues with some really tough hay that isn’t quite dry,” he said.
Other upgrades include transport wheels and improved safety frames.
