John Deere has made multiple changes to its 6R Series of tractors.
One of the new updates is the models available for purchase.
Previously, John Deere capped the 6R Series at 155 rated horsepower. The 6R 165 is now available for producers seeking extra power.
Another improvement focuses on fuel efficiency.
Thanks to 1000E PTO, farmers can use the PTO “at a lower fuel (consumption) that you need to run that at 1000 RPM,” said Julia Romagnoli, a production system specialist with John Deere.
Another notable update is the addition of Intelligent Power Management (IPM).
This feature provides additional horsepower, Romagnoli said.
“We actually have extra horsepower than the number that’s on the hood when you’re in a non-stationary PTO or in a transport application,” she said.
IPM maximizes the tractor’s capability to provide an extra 20hp on 4-cylinder models and up to 40 hp in 6-cylinder models.
Another advancement for the 6R tractors is John Deere’s dynamic weighing system for loaders.
The system allows for precise weighing when using a loader, Romagnoli said.
“We’re able to take the hydraulic pressure in the boom and weigh what’s on the loader,” she said. “If you think about baling a whole field, you can now have a good count of everything you took off that field. And also thinking about going into an ag bag or doing a mix for TMR, we have load cells on TMR mixers and now you can weight it proactively.
You can put a recipe card on your display and measure how many pounds of corn silage you need and dump it in.”
