Katie Campbell and William Spurr of Spurr Brothers Farm in Wilmot, Nova Scotia, have been named Atlantic’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2025. The announcement was made during a regional event held July 20–21 at Luckett Winery in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The event was well attended by sponsors, alumni, and dignitaries, including MP Kody Blois and Nova Scotia’s Agriculture Minister Greg Morrow.
Spurr Brothers Farm is a fifth-generation family farm, founded in 1875. Originally producing apples, hay, and grains on 62 acres, the farm now spreads across 800 acres. Located in the Annapolis Valley, the farm produces over 20 types of apples, along with strawberries, potatoes, onions, and forage crops.
Today, the farm is managed by Katie Campbell and her cousins William Spurr and Lisa Jenereax. Katie oversees the business operations and packing house. William manages the vegetable crops and recently introduced a hard cider line. Lisa leads orchard management and fruit variety innovations.
Spurr Brothers Farm also runs a farm market and taproom, where visitors can enjoy fresh produce and local goods. The farm is known for its quality products and its active role in promoting Nova Scotia agriculture.
“A very well organized and attended regional event highlighting strawberry and fresh cut flower production alongside Canada’s finest vineyards! The new honourees Katie Campbell and William Spurr of Spurr Brothers Farms with their market garden farm and taproom will represent the Atlantic region very well in Toronto!” said Ryan Mercer, Vice President of Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer Program.

The national program recognizes excellence in agriculture and is open to farmers aged 18 to 39. Winners are selected from seven Canadian regions, with two national winners chosen each year.
