The Beef Farmers of Ontario, the Ontario Sheep Farmers, DLF, and the Ontario Forage Council are inviting nominations for the 2025/26 DLF Pasture Award. This program celebrates outstanding pasture management and encourages farmers to use effective strategies that maximize production per acre.
The award is open to both sheep and beef producers who show exceptional dedication to sustainable and productive pasture practices. It aims to recognize individuals who not only care for their land but also improve its productivity and long-term health.
Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $250, courtesy of DLF. They will also be awarded a 25-kilogram bag of their choice of a DLF Forage Mix. In addition to these prizes, each winner may be invited to share a presentation about their operation during their respective commodity annual general meeting, offering them valuable recognition within the farming community.
Nominations are now open for this year’s award cycle
Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving producers by completing the official nomination form or by emailing the Ontario Forage Council at admin@ontarioforagecouncil.com. Submissions should include the producer’s name, their contact details if available, and a brief statement about why they deserve recognition.
Deadlines for nominations are set to ensure fair consideration for all applicants. Sheep producer nominations must be submitted by September 30, 2025 - so don't delay, while beef producer nominations are due by November 30, 2025.
This award highlights the importance of good pasture management for Ontario’s agricultural success. By nominating a farmer who stands out for their care and innovation, you help promote best practices and encourage others to follow their example.
