Farm Credit Canada is now accepting applications for the 2026 FCC AgriSpirit Fund, a long-standing funding program designed to support capital projects that enrich the lives of rural Canadians.
The FCC AgriSpirit Fund provides financial support to registered charities and non-profit organizations located in rural communities with fewer than 50,000 residents. Eligible organizations must partner with municipal, territorial, or provincial governments, or collaborate with First Nations, Inuit, or Métis governments and communities.
For the 2026 funding cycle, individual projects may receive grants ranging from $10,000 to $25,000, drawn from a total available fund of $1.5 million. The program focuses on capital projects that create lasting benefits for rural residents and help strengthen community infrastructure.
Since the program launched in 2004, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has supported 1,778 capital projects across rural Canada, contributing $24 million in donations. Many of these initiatives have direct or indirect ties to agriculture, food systems, and rural resilience.
Examples of previously funded projects include:
- Construction or renovation of community halls and shared spaces
- Refrigeration systems and equipment that support food waste reduction and food recovery efforts
- Accessibility upgrades that promote inclusion for people of all abilities
- Community greenhouses and food-growing initiatives
- Agriculture- and food-related infrastructure that supports local production and education
These projects have helped rural communities improve food security, strengthen social connections, and create inclusive spaces that serve residents for years to come.
The application deadline for the 2026 FCC AgriSpirit Fund is May 15. Interested organizations can review eligibility requirements, explore examples of previously supported projects, and submit an application online at www.fccagrispiritfund.ca.
Farm Credit Canada will announce the selected projects later in the fall.
Strengthening Rural Communities
The FCC AgriSpirit Fund reflects FCC commitment to the long-term vitality of rural Canada by investing in infrastructure that supports agriculture, food systems, and community well-being. For small towns and rural regions, these capital investments often play a critical role in supporting local services and strengthening community life.
Organizations with project ideas that address local needs, promote collaboration, and create lasting impact are encouraged to apply.
