Ontario Racing and Equine Guelph have launched Horse eCamp, a free and exciting online learning experience designed especially for horse-loving teens. This fun and educational program helps young people explore the world of horses and discover the many career opportunities in the equine industry.
The program includes three main components that students must complete to earn their Horse eCamp Certificate:
Careers in the Horse World – This self-paced course introduces participants to the variety of jobs in the equine industry, from racing to veterinary care.
Horse Behaviour & Safety – Teens will learn how to safely interact with horses and understand how horses communicate.
EquiMania! – A collection of entertaining games that teach horse knowledge in a fun way.
To get started, participants can visit www.TheHorsePortal.ca/OR, click “Register for eCamp,” then select “Register Now.” By entering the coupon code OReCamp, students can access the full program at no cost.
Ontario Racing sponsors this initiative to support the future of horse racing in the province. The organization aims to attract young talent and educate the next generation about the joys and careers in horse racing.
“Horse racing is an incredible professional sport with an abundance of opportunities for the next generation of Ontarians to be involved,” said Andrew Gaughan, Independent Chair, Ontario Racing. “This partnership with Equine Guelph will help shape future horse racing fans, trainers, veterinarians and more. Horse eCamp for teenagers and Ontario Racing Horse Camp at the Racetrack for younger children will ensure that young Ontarians understand what a fun and exciting sport horse racing is.”
In addition to the online program, Ontario Racing Day Camp displays will be held at selected racetracks this summer. These events will include EquiMania! exhibits, hands-on activities, and fun materials like activity books for kids to take home.
This initiative gives teens an accessible and inspiring way to start their journey with horses.
