From August 18 to 24, 2025, Canada celebrates Canadian Flowers Week to support and promote the country’s homegrown floral industry. This special week shines a spotlight on local flowers, encouraging people across Canada to choose blooms that are grown ethically and sustainably by Canadian farmers.
While many flowers sold in Canada are imported from the U.S. and South America, more than 2,000 local growers across the country are producing over 100 varieties of flowers. These growers follow strict environmental rules, ensuring safe and fresh flowers for consumers.
According to CanadianFlowerWeek.ca, 97% of Canadians want to buy local flowers, but most do not know which varieties are in season. This awareness week aims to change that by helping consumers learn more about flower seasonality, while encouraging designers and retailers to include more local blooms in their work.
Inspired by similar flower promotion weeks in the UK, USA, and Australia, Canadian Flowers Week invites growers, designers, wholesalers, florists, and retailers to host events and floral installations throughout the country.
If you grow flowers for sale, there are lots of ways to participate:
- Creating farm stand installations
- Designing creative retail window displays
- Hosting public floral installations
- Running contests or giveaways in-store or online
- Organizing flower walks or farm tours
Whether you're a flower lover, grower, or retailer, there are many ways to join this celebration and support Canada’s floral community.
By working together, we can boost local flower sales, celebrate seasonal beauty, and make eco-friendly choices.
