July 15th to August 15th is Canadian Cherry Month!
Mid-July to mid-August is the peak of the season, when cherry-lovers from coast to coast enjoy the sweetest and juiciest cherries, grown right here in Canada.
Did you know that 95% of Canada’s cherries are grown in British Columbia? It is the heart of Canada’s cherry production, especially the Okanagan Valley, which benefits from ideal growing conditions.
The 2025 season is shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory, with healthy trees, uniform fruit development, and favorable weather.
In 2024, the Canadian cherry market generated USD 1.58 billion in revenue. Direct consumption of fresh cherries is the largest and fastest-growing market segment, with strong market demand. The “Buy Canadian” movement is a force in that demand.
The 3rd annual Canadian Cherry Month (July 15–August 15) is underway, promoting cherries through contests, health education, and storytelling campaigns like “I Farm For”, which highlights the orchardists behind cherry production.
A Great Snack Option:
Cherries are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and potassium—supporting heart health, immune function, and protecting cells from oxidative stress that can lead to cancer and other diseases.
With a low glycemic index and polyphenols, they’re a smart choice for managing blood sugar. Cherries also contain natural melatonin, which may support better sleep, and anthocyanins that contribute to brain health, memory, and focus.
They’re also 82% water and high in fibre, making them naturally hydrating, gentle on digestion.
