Massey Ferguson is helping farmers save time baling with its new SB.1436DB.
This implement creates two 14x18 small square bales simultaneously with one pass.
The baler has a 105-inch-wide pickup from panel to panel, which is the same width on Massey’s large square baler.
“What this is going to do is increase the throughput and capacity,” said Jessica Williamson, marketing manager with Massey Ferguson. “We can have much larger windrows, and this baler is going to do a great job of taking that hay, forming it into the chamber and separating it into two separate bales.”
The baler has one chamber and one plunger.
A splitting knife positioned behind the plunger helps split one bale into two.
One of the key features of the SB.1436DB is the independent knotter trip system.
A separation wall keeps the bales separate from one another. The system ties the bales independently regardless of windrow variability.
“If we have an inconsistent crop feed into the chamber, it’s only going to tie the bale that’s ready to be tied at the specified length,” Williamson said.
Another standout part of the baler is its twine capacity.
A user can put 10 balls of twine on each side of the baler.
Supporting farmers in the cab during baling is Massey’s SimplEbale system, which comes standard on the 1436.
The system can show producers multiple pieces of information.
“You can show flake size, flake width, flake count, (and) what your previous bale’s flake count was,” Williamson said.
The system can also provide moisture and bales per hour efficiency readings.
Farmers can also choose the shoot that works best for them.
Massey currently offers a dual wide flat shoot which lays the bales with a string up configuration. Or the bales can be quarter turned.
